G2G: Pre-1500: Pls add Gifford-40 to Giffard-639

Question

Pls. could someone with Pre-1500 certification add Gifford-40 (Thomas Gifford 1460-1511) and Langston-4 (Joan Langston) to the profile of Giffard-639 (Thomas Giffard 1481-1550) as his parents.  All profiles are well sourced.

Also, pls add the birth year of Giffard-639 which is about 1481, based on the source which indicates that he was abt. 30 when his father died in 1511.

No it is not the wrong link.  Pls. look at the very top of pg. 131- Pedigree of Wenman in alliance with Giffard of Twyford & c.

Also, on pg. 135 is a drawing of the tomb of Thomas Giffard (Giffard-639) and Mary/Marie Staveley with the inscription and dates included ie: Thomas d. xxv Nov MCCCCCL.  (25 Nov 1550) I'd really like to put that picture in his profile somehow but I can't add anything to the profile because I'm not pre-1500 authorized.  Also, date for Gifford-40's death should be 20 Oct 1512, not 1511.  The date given is the date of he wrote his will.   The same picture of the real one is here:  https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/198283740/thomas-giffard

Thomas Giffard m. Joan Langston had a son, Thomas Giffard m. Mary Staveley.  They had daughter, Ursula Giffard m. Thomas Wenman.  It's all there.

Thanks, Lois  What you've done is great.  I usually get help from my techy husband for graphics. There is a correction to be made for the death of Gifford-40. The same source indicates that he died 20 Oct 1512.  The date given, 10 Oct 1511 was when he wrote his will.  This makes a difference when you calculate the birth of son, Thomas who was supposed to have been 30 when his father died, so he was born abt. 1481.  I can live with abt. 1483 though.  Just being picky. Original photo of memorial has been uploaded with permission granted explicitly via email by the photographer and copy-right holder.  This image also appears on findagrave posted by the same original photographer.

As discussed with Anna, the Lipscombe book appears to make a calendar miscalculation by translating October of 3 Henry VIII as 1512 when in fact it was 1511.  Where the date of 20 Oct comes from is uncertain at this point as the IPM (cited in NEHGR 74:235) explicitly stated that he died 10 Oct 1511, same date as his will and it was proved 3 Nov 1511.  Perhaps Mr. Lipscombe also misread '10 Oct' as '20 Oct'.  At this point, 10 Oct 1511 seems to be the best-supported death date.

I think if there's one thing we can be certain about is that the probate date is a "before that" date. Which puts 1512 out.

Would someone pls add to the profile Giffard-639, the inscription on his memorial and that the memorial is  located at the Parish Church of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Twyford, Buckinghamshire: I can add it to the FindaGrave site profile for him.  It has the exact date of death in Roman numerals and matches the picture of the original memorial photo in FindaGrave .  I wish I could do it myself but I created the profile then got locked out because it's pre-1500.

The inscription is written below the drawing of Thomas Giffard on p. 135 of:  The History and Antiquities of the County of Buckingham, Volume 3, p. 131-132, 135" p. 131-132 p. 135 Google Books (accessed [3 Feb 2022]).
