G2G: Comments on Blount-776.jpg

Question

A google image search shows that the attached is thought to be an image of "Sir John Puckering (1544 – 30 April 1596) was a lawyer and politician who served as Speaker of the House of Commons and Lord Keeper of the Great Seal from 1592 until his death." It shows him holding the Seal. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Puckering

Sotheby's also shows the painting and describes it "This remarkably well-preserved Elizabethan portrait was painted around 1592 to celebrate Sir John Puckering’s appointment as Lord Keeper of the Great Seal to Queen Elizabeth I. I am not sure what the right procedure is for records where something has been added which seems to be incorrect, so I am posting it here.

I guess it might be nice to add it to the correct profile which is here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Puckering-36 but will wait for advice.

Great discovery, A!  Welcome to WikiTree, where we're fortunate to have a member with your skills and interest in getting mistakes corrected.

If you could edit this question and change the tags to:

pre-1700 england blount puckering

it would help get faster attention from the people best interested and qualified to make the correction.  

This is something you won't be able do until you get pre-1700 certification, which WikiTree requires to work on these profiles - it's supposed to make sure that people who work on older profiles make accurate and well sourced entries, but unfortunately lots of people just check the right boxes and proceed to use online trees and other invalid sources.  Since you have done such exemplary work to find good sources, I would encourage you to get your pre-1700 certification and then make the change yourself.

I'm not sure I'm the right person to go about meddling in these old records as I am still learning the right way to add sources!
