Hi Mike,

Have you thought about becoming a member of WikiTree (it's free) and creating profiles for these family members?

WikiTree profiles are usually one of the very first results to show up in searches like Google and Bing and so they are a great way to make connections with other people researching the same person/line.

If you're interested in joining you could start here.

Just a suggestion! :)

Hi Eowyn,

Thanks for the tip. They are already on Myhertage.com, but I just opened a WikTree account and uploaded the GED file. Fingers crossed ...

Thx,

Mike

William J. McGinn, born 1934 in Philadelphia is my father. Alfred McGinn was my grandfather and Mary Daly was my grandmother. Mary Daley passed away in 1968. I never knew Alfred, he passed away when my father was young. My father passed away in 1988 at the age of 54. Their other children, Elizabeth and Mary passed away in 2006 and 1980 respectively. Caroline is still living and resides in Maryland with her husband James McLoughlin. I can confirm that my father grew up on Hobson Street in Philadelphia. Maude Daly was my great grandmother and I believe she passed away in 1966. Caroline is still in touch with relatives from Liverpool and could provide more information.

Hello William,
Thanks for all the information. I was sorry to see that your father passed away at such a young age - it must have been very hard on you.
I'll send you my e-mail address in a private message. If you can give me your mail address, then I can invite you to join our family tree on myheritage.com. This goes back to your great-great grandparents, John Hockey (or Haughey) and Mary McConville, and their families.
I don't know if you already knew, by the way, that your great-grandfather (and my great-uncle) Daniel Daly died in 1915 on the SS Lusitania when it was torpedoed by a German submarine off the Irish coast. Next May will be the 100th anniversary, and I'm hoping to be at the memorial at Tower Hill in London.
Speak to you again,
Mike Newman
