G2G: Question about John Gifford profile Gifford-100

Question

I was wondering if someone would take a look at the profile for John Gifford, profile Gifford-100.  He appears as the son of William Gifford-99.  William was apparently married twice - once to Elizabeth Grant and second to Mary Mills.  However, John Gifford has a completely different mother on his profile.  She is Patience Russell-3833.  Her profile is unsourced.

The reason I noticed this is that my 5x great grandparents are William Gifford-813 and his wife, Patience Russell-4867.  It seems like an odd coincidence to me to have two men William Giffords married to two Patience Russells...

I would recommend that you first message the profile managers for the profiles in question.

It could be a minor oversight as I'm guilty of myself.

I see that Patience's PM is Randy Seaver.  He is a genealogy blogger with an enormous tree and appears to be a pretty responsible researcher.  So, as Brian suggested, it would probably be useful to contact him.

I found that Sandie (Schwartz) Schwarz had originally connected John to William's first wife, Elizabeth (Grant) Gifford and that the change to Patience Russell was made 27 March, 2019 and seemed to be based on a Gedcom file.  Because the profile for Patience Russell-3833 is unsourced, I felt that the original information should be restored.  In addition, I checked some of the sources used in editing the profile for Patience Russell, born 1619, did not verify this information.  For example, the Hazard index was used as a source, but the Patience Russell on that list was born 1748 in New York State. I checked (the many) changes that had been made to the profile and found that Patience Russell was at one time listed as the wife of William Ambrose Gifford...a questionable connection...and in another change to her profile, her marriage date to William is listed as 1642.  Hope this is okay...
