My Waddell line seems to be primarily in the Greene/Franklin counties, Shippensburg, PA area and is Walter Luell Waddell b. 1895 d. 1942 - William Allen Waddell b. 1871 d. 1953 - James A Waddell b. 1843 d. 1917 - Joseph Waddle b. 1799 d. 1854 -Joseph Waddle b. either 1750 or 1738 d. Oct 10, 1818.  I have two resources that cite this Joseph Waddle as the next in line but two birth dates and the same death date 10.10.1818.

The reference The Waddells of Colonial PA and VA begins with John the Martyr Waddle at the Battle of Bothwell Bridge in 1679 in Scotland and ends the line with Joseph b. 1738 d. 1818.

Starting the line from Walter Luell Waddell b. 1895 and working backwards ends with  Joseph Waddle b. 1750 and the father of Joseph Waddle b. 1799.

So, the question is who is the father/mother of Joseph Waddle/Waddell b. 1799 d. 1854 and is buried in Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg, PA?

Brian - thank you so much for this very quick and helpful response.  This death certificate moves me one step closer to resolving this family line.

The problem I now have is that there are two Joseph Waddles in this time period who are possibilities for the correct person or they could actually be the same person.
If I start from the current day and work backward I come to Joseph Waddell b. 1750 d. 10.10.1818, I believe that this may be the person you found the death cert for.
If I work from the publication The Waddells of PA and VA it begins with John the Martyr Waddell in 1679 and shows Joseph Waddle b. 1738 d. c. 1818 as the father of Joseph Waddle b. 1799 d. 1854.  In the Waddells of PA and VA this is the note----
He married w/o Joseph Waddell (Jo3,W2, W1) after 1763 in p. Middleton Twp, Cumberland Co, PA.  She was born after 1738 in p. Middleton Twp, Cumberland Co, PA and died after 1790 in p. Letterkenny, Franklin (the Cumberland) Co, PA.  They had a least one child .....(Joseph b. c. 1799).
Two Josephs cited as the father of Joseph b. 1799 and both have deaths in 1818...very coincidental.
So, I'm relatively new to using WikiTree...should I now post questions for both of these Josephs like I did for Joseph b. 1799?
Thanks,
Mike Waddell
