G2G: Need birth record for Margaret (Skillings-6) Prince, born about 1628 possibly at Hingham, Plymouth, MBC.

Question

I received a message that Margaret's surname may not be Skillings who married John Prince-201. There is a Margaret (Skillings-9) that married Thomas (Prince-46). Can someone help sort this out please(question mark not working). Thank you, Cheri

The Margaret Skilling who m. Thomas Prince you refer to is in my direct ancestry line and I researched them both last year (intermediate level coverage; in other words I'm not a professional genealogist but I'm not a beginner either). Their residency was Gloucester, Essex County, Mass. I remember trying to locate information on the Hingham Margaret Skillings for any famial ties but didn't find anything in the standard online search sites.

Margaret and Thomas Prince of Gloucester had a son John Prince born in 1653 who m. Abigail Ellory. This John Prince of Gloucester died after 1713 whereas 'your' John Prince of Hingham has a firm death date during 1689.

One other item: 'Your' John Prince of Hingham should probably be in the PGM project seeing as he's in residence by 1639 according to the posted source.

Pending what a designated G2G specialist says I suspect your instinct is correct, that her LNAB should probably be Unknown.

Thank you Leigh Anne, I appreciate all your information. And I admire all the research you did on Thomas Prince. I'll ask the PGM project about John Prince like you suggested. I also saw that one of the connected profiles stated that there were 3 John Prince in the area. My mom's dna test results show up on John and Margaret's daughter Mary (Prince) Joy. [[Prince-670|John Prince (1610-1676)]] is an ancestor of my only known DNA cousin of my surname, in case you want evidence I've spent time myself on the over century old discussion of who are these Prince families. My common ancestor with my (maternal) DNA cousin is a descendant of [[Warren-835|James Warren Sr. (abt.1620-bef.1702)]], Scottish POW. My own PGM ancestor [[Prince-677|Robert Prince (1628-1674)]] was reinstated recently by Founders & Patriots (but not my own membership). [[Prince-201|John Prince (abt.1609-abt.1691)]] is an ancestor of my children and of my son-in-law.  I don't see any relationship between the Margaret (Skillings) Prince of Hingham and the one of Gloucester, other than proximity of dates and names.  These Prince families of Hingham, Hull, Salem, and Gloucester are still mixed up on Geneanet and Ancestry.  Then there's spelling alternation Prince/Prence together with the family which started in Plymouth, possibly my maternal ancestors.  I descend as well from previous marriages of 2 of Thomas Prence's 4 spouses.

Thank you for your information too! I see that you and I, and Leigh Anne and I are 8th cousins, 1x removed. And you and Leigh Anne are 7th cousins, 2x removed. It's great to know you both.

You and I both descend from John Rayment-26. And he and your Robert Prince-677 are 6* from each other.

Your James Warren and my 8GGF John MacBayne are 7* apart. John MacBayne was a Scottish POW also. His profile has a lot of interesting information.

John Rayment is in my maternal line that mom said was Scottish/Scotch-Irish. The oral history that mom passed on to me has proven true so many times. It's nice to find cousins with the same history.
