G2G: Is Elianora Gascoigne (Gascoigne-262) the same person as Gascoigne-328 who married John Langton?

Hi all,

I am wondering if anyone knows of any evidence which would show that Elianora Gascoigne (Gascoigne-262), daughter of William Gascoigne XI, is the same Elianora Gascoigne (Gascoigne-328) who married John Langton.  They seem to be about the same age and in the same area of Yorkshire, so I suspect it is the same person.  However, I don't have a source to back it up.

      --------------Thanks,

Thanks Ken, I'm also not sure there is evidence for Elianora as the daughter of William Gascoigne?

Richardson doesn't appear to mention her, if the information on William's profile is correct.

They'll be the same person, in that they derive from the same story.  The story is out there, but in many different versions.  Thomas or John Langton married Anne or Elianora Gascoigne daughter of William 9 or 10 or 11.

Currently on Wikitree we have an Anne Gascoigne, daughter of William IX who married Sir Thomas Langton

http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Gascoigne-17

But that might be based on Visitations that aren't always that reliable.

It's given in Jones's Harewood (1859)

https://archive.org/stream/heraldicvisitati00tongrich#page/n29/mode/2up

but this pedigree is unsourced and has a lot of issues.

Seems like the only Gascoigne of Gawthorpe who ever got visitated was number 13 in 1530, but he didn't record the daughters of previous generations.

Eleanor is in Vis Worcs 1569 page 148

http://ukga.org/cgi-bin/browse.cgi?action=ViewRec&DB=13&bookID=137&page=148&submit=Next

Not from the actual Visitation, it's an extra one added in by the editor from Mundy's collection.

Similar in Vis Gloucs 1623, page 273

https://archive.org/stream/visitationofcoun00inchit#page/272/mode/2up

and again page 278.
