Thanks for the info! It's a great Christmas gift idea.

There will probably be sales prices coming from the other major suppliers too, so no need to rush to decide on which company to go for.

Great advice Lynda :-)

I started a new thread for current Thanksgiving sales.

I agree with Lynda about waiting to see what the other test deals will be.  The new tests from 23andMe no longer upload to Gedmatch (they do to Gedmatch Genesis, however) so they are not my first choice in tests.  FTDNA and Ancestry will both have good sales too.

Living DNA is currently an amazing $60 off their regular price right now!  This was my Christmas present to myself since I have wanted to see what Living DNA has to offer for those of us with a large percentage of British Ancestry.

Apparently all of the testing companies will be switching to the new testing chip sooner or later, if they haven't done so already, because the vendor is no longer producing the chip used in the past. See https://dna-explained.com/2017/09/05/concepts-imputation/ and https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/457335/imputation-the-discontinuation-illuminas-omniexpress-chip for more information.

This is one reason why it's important for WikiTree to start accommodating Gedmatch Genesis ID numbers.
I know and from what I have read, I am not sure I like the idea of using imputation. I am very curious to see how my Living DNA test results come out since they were one of the first to use imputation.  My Heritage also uses it and I have not been impressed at all with their results.

But either way, 23andMe is not my favorite DNA testing site as it is the least user friendly.  You cannot easily compare your results with your matches because of the multiple types of privacy levels AND you have to be on the trusted list so to speak in order to see the full features of a match.

Ellen, are you in the DNA Project?  Because if not, you need to be.  You are very knowledgeable :-)
