G2G: What was the best gift you gave and received for Christmas?

Was the gift you gave or received genealogy related? Hope all you WikiTreers had a great Christmas or the holiday you celebrate.

I gave two groups of homeless kitties left-over chicken dinners.  I got some meows and ankle brushes in return.  :)

A third cousin who has the connections all on the mothers side to the same mother's line I do. (On phone so can't search for the correct DNA name for this). That means if we both do DNA tests we should show up as related by DNA.

I was researching the family tree of a friend and found her fifth great grandfather was Seth Lewis. He wrote his memoirs, mainly for his children, but they were never published until recently, and then only by a regional publisher in Louisiana. Having found that, I just had to buy a copy as a Christmas present.

Best gift received:  15 family members joined us for a grazing lunch of all kinds of finger foods and crock pot delights and everyone also brought foods to share.  It is so good to have so many family be able to show up in one place for the holiday!

Best gift we gave:  a place for everyone to gather and have fun including inlaws for our daughterinlaws.  One set could not join us as they were meeting with their son's family that day out of town.  We enjoy including our extended families because it allows everyone to come together and takes some stress off the little ones of having to run all over town.  We do this at all the holidays we host.

Gave away my husband's gift of $50.00 to me to his niece and her family who are missionaries in Macedonia. He did the same. Our gifts put to good use across the world...I feel pretty good. Tis better to give than receive!
