G2G: Salvatore-89 did he get married to Guida-24 in Italy and France? [closed]

I came in to update a source for their marriage in Sepino, Campobasso, Molise, Italia and someone had already added sources for a marriage in Toulon, France. I do not speak or read French or Italian. Is there anyone who can help? Thanks!

The FamilySearch indexation you added doesn't link to an image, but I'm pretty sure the image is the one on Antenati.

They married in Toulon and that record was transcribed in Sepino, where Luigi was from (a standard practice in a lot of countries at the time). So there is a record in Sepino, which FamilySearch indexed, but it is just a copy of the record in Toulon.

I really appreciate your response. That does lead me to more questions... The marriage dates are different? Would they have done the same thing with birth records? Does the French record list where they lived and or where they were married such as a church?

The later date on the Italian record is the date it was entered in the Italian registry, but if you read inside you'll see that it notes the matrimonio took place "ad di dodici di mese di Ottobre" (12 October, as per the French record) ... at 3 in the afternoon (if you want to be specific).

The Italian record is dated 4 Apr 1896. The copy of the actual marriage record that was transcribed says the ceremony took place on 12 Oct 1895. The marriage in France wasn't in a church. It was a civil marriage conducted in the Italian consulate in Toulon. The consulate forwarded a copy back to Italy to be recorded in the books in Sepino, where the groom was born and officially domiciled. The bride was born in La Seyne but officially domiciled in Celle Bulgheria in Salerno.
