It's time for the One Place Studies Project Check-In!

We've put together a survey for you to fill out to check in with you, it will only take a moment as there are only a few questions. Filling out the survey lets us know you are still interested in coordinating your study and provides an opportunity for you to share any suggestions you may have for the project.

If you have decided to step away from your study, please reply to this comment to that effect.

Hi

Thanks so much for being a member of the Mid-Atlantic Team for the April Connectathon. It was a fun and productive weekend. We added 3,716 profiles to Wikitree between the two teams and had 49 people participate. Considering many of us can’t stop at just one source, we may never make the top ten, but we did great!

Mindy usually sends out a wrap up message in which she mentions how to delete from your watchlist profiles you do not want to continue to manage. Can I make a request, wait until tomorrow before you do this, and then can you check your suggestion list and see if there are any typos that need to be corrected. We don’t want to add to the data doctors’ work.

See you next thon Mickey

Hi Alison,

i'm currently doing some corrections on category errors with personal categories. Your personal categories are on the error list as the WT ID does not match your profile ID, maybe because your profile was merged?

Could you create a new personal category for ID Mcclintock-1813, and then I am happy to re-name the sub-categories to your new ID.

Many thanks for your help, regards Margaret, Categorization Project volunteer

Hi Alison,

Have you ever considered participating in one of WikiTree's Connect-A-Thons? It's a great opportunity to add new profiles, whether they are extended family members or someone who fits into your Luzerne County project. Both of my parents were born in Wilkes-Barre, so I have roots in Luzerne County, too! The next Connect-A-Thon will run from Friday, April 22nd to Monday, April 25th.

I want to personally invite you to join the Mid-Atlantic Team because of your interest in Luzerne County research. If you are interested in participating, you can sign up in the G2G forum registration post (https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1392037) and add another badge to your collection. Hope you'll consider joining the fun!

So glad you decided to join us, Alison! You may want to check out the Mid-Atlantic Team page at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Team_New_York, where our Team Co-Captains (Michele Bazley and Lucy Selvaggio-Diaz) put together a lot of helpful information. Be sure to read the Connect-a-Thon Help Pages at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Connect-a-Thon#Participation_Instructions if you have not participated in a previous Connect-a-Thon so you understand how it works.

Hi again,

I sent you a message a couple of weeks ago on behalf of the Germany Project and have not yet heard back from you. I hope you are well!

If I don’t hear back from you by the end of April, I will assume you no longer wish to be a member of the Germany Project and I’ll go ahead and remove you from our member roster. You are, of course, welcome to rejoin at any time via our G2G sign-up post.

Best wishes,

Hi,

The Germany Project Leaders are doing their semi-annual check-in with all project members and we want to verify that you’re still interested in being a member of the Project. Please respond by private message and let me know.

REMINDERS: (1) We use Google Groups for project collaboration and you aren’t yet a member of the group, please submit a join request here (make sure to add your name/WikiTree ID to the request). (2) add GERMANY to your followed G2G tags so you don't miss any discussions in G2G (see: Help:Tags#How_to_follow_tags Help:Tags).

Are you currently working with one of our Sub-projects or Teams? If not, take a look at our main Project page for a full list. We recently launched a new Profile Improvement Team and are seeking new team members. Let me know if you’re interested.

We really appreciate your contributions on WikiTree, and thank you for all your hard work. If you have any questions, please ask. We would also love to hear any feedback you may have for the project.

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Hi Alison, Thank you for working on the Blewitt profile. Looks like we may be 11th cousins as both descendants of the Mayflower passenger John Howland (abt.1592-1673). Nice to meet you, cousin!

Colleen

posted on McClintock-744 (merged) by Colleen Griffin
Hi Colleen,

You're welcome! Nice to meet you too! Are you related to the Blewitts? I have some DNA cousins on ancestry. com who are Blewitt cousins of Biden, so I'm trying to see if I can find my exact connection to them. I think I might share a great+grandparent from the generation above the Edward Blewitt who was married to Mary Mulderig. One of my Irish ancestors also emigrated to the USA from Ballina and settled in Scranton.

Hi Alison,

The Ireland Project (previously the Irish Roots Project) has now changed its structure into Teams. We require everyone with the Ireland Badge to be a member of at least one Team or Sub-Team and our google group. See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Ireland for details. The Teams are :-

1. Categories Team
2. Counties Team
3. Managed Profiles Team
4. Membership Team
5. Profile Improvement Team
6. Topics Team
7. Diaspora

? Can you let me know if you’d like to stay on in the new project and which team(s) you’d like to join. Please also let me know your e-mail address so that I can get you added to the project’s Google Group or confirm you are already a member of the google group.

Many thanks,

Maria

Thanks for your note, Allison, about your plans for the 1830 Census for Newton Township. I noticed that you have another one place study going for Providence in Luzerne County but don't see that you have joined the One Place Study project.

On the One Name Study project page, there's a big green box that has the steps for joining the project. Please follow those instructions and let Ros Haywood, the project coordinator know about your free-space pages. She can help you get them set up according to the project's guidelines.

Part of that set up will be removing the New Project category which will drop you off my radar. Don't hesitate to ask, though, if there are ways I can help.

I look forward to seeing you in the branches,

Debi

Actually, you can add a PA Coal Company category for Dunmore, too. Some companies had branches/factories in several places, so it's fine to add them with a city name, then categorize the business/company under the location, too. (So, Pennsylvania Coal Company, Dunmore, Pennsylvania would go under both the PA companies category AND the Dunmore, Pennsylvania category. Thanks, Alison.

Natalie

You added a category: Pennsylvania Coal Company to two profiles. Is this the same as Pennsylvania Coal Company, Scranton, Pennsylvania, which already exists? If so, could you please correct the category on those profiles?

See: https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Category:Pennsylvania_Coal_Company&action=edit

Thanks! Natalie

Hi Alison and thanks for your message on G2G.

I’ve added the Irish Roots Project badge to your profile. If you click on the badge it will take you to the full list of our wonderful members. Click on Irish Roots Project will take you to the first page of the project. I've added your good self to the member interest page. Here you can let others know which counties or names you are researching etc.

Thanks for joining the project and good luck with your research.

Hi there!

This is just a courtesy e-mail to see how things are going.

Are you enjoying WikiTree so far? Any questions? Any issues?

Hi Alison,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or topic. Read the goals and tasks of the project and join if it is a good fit.

Add the project tag to your Following list to be kept up to date on any activity that occurs for that project.

Can't find what you're looking for? Let me know, and I can make some suggestions! :-)

Hi Alison,

You may want to use your own surname in the Last Name at Birth field. This will ensure that your profile is listed on the correct surname page with other members and ancestors who also have that surname. Our naming conventions can be found at Name Fields.

If you are concerned about Privacy, click the Privacy tab on your profile or visit our Privacy help page to read about how the different settings work.
