Mikel Stephens was born on May 25, 1974,[1] in Bryan, Texas, the son of Janice Chandler and David Stephens. Mikel was named Mikel David Kopczynski at birth. The name Kopczynski was given to Mikel's father by David's stepfather, Ignatius "Sonny" Kopczynski.

David, Mikel, Mikel's half-brother: Robert Stephens, and Mikel's stepmother: Becky Stephens would later change their name back to Stephens via court orders.

Mikel has an Associate of Applied Science - Law Enforcement Technology Degree from Blinn College and is now studying at Texas A&M University-Commerce.

He served in the Texas State Guard from 2010 - 2018

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Thank you for adding your DNA to WikiTree. Getting the Best from DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

One of our mentors created a tutorial for the GEDCOMpare process that others found very helpful. I hope that you will too. For those using Chrome, Firefox or Opera browsers, there is a tool that can help with the formatting of profiles that have been created through GEDCOM, so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.
